Saratoga Print & Paper Foundation

Purpose

The SARATOGA PRINT & PAPER FOUNDATION has been created to develop and build a broad range of educational programs and opportunities intended to explore and expand appreciation for and knowledge and understanding of the conceptual, practical and artistic use of print as a process and paper as a material.

The art of printing, a discovered and ever-evolving process, and the art of paper, an invented and ever-developing material, have for nearly two thousand years intertwined to carry our civilization forward and define and record its every moment. As we approach the portal of a third millennium in the history of print and paper, and some voice a vision of a "paperless and print-free society", we believe building a greater understanding of and appreciation for both the process and the material will be of benefit to all.

It is our intent and purpose to educate the public as to the history and value of both the process and the material as they have developed and evolved to this point in time and to encourage technical, cultural and artistic experimentation that will lead to new and, perhaps unexpected, directions ahead.
